Course Outline:
This course is designed to provide the individual with the knowledge to recognise a range of mental health conditions, how to start a supportive conversation and when and how to signpost a person to seek appropriate professional help. It will also guide the individuals on how to recognise and manage stress.
Please note that individuals will not diagnose or treat mental health conditions as this can only be carried out by healthcare professionals but will be able to identify when a person may have a condition and know where they can go to get help.
Course Content:
• Understand and define what mental health is
• Understand the stigma surrounding mental health
• Why people develop mental health conditions
• The role of a First Aider for Mental Health
• How to provide advice and practical support for a person presenting a mental health condition
• How to diagnose and manage stress
• How to recognise a range of mental health conditions
Suitable For:
All employees who as part of their working duties associate with (or have the potential to) other individuals with mental health issues/complications. As well as those wishing to understand the meaning of mental health.
