Course Aims:
To provide Supervisors with an understanding of their safety and health responsibilities and enable them to recognise how they can influence safety and health, and deal with any related issues in the workplace.
Course Content
At the conclusion of this course, delegates will be able to:
• Describe the key reasons for supervising safely
• Describe their own safety and health responsibilities and explain how good supervision can influence safety culture
• Identify common workplace hazards, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions, and state how these can be controlled
• Describe what is meant by risk, hazard, and risk controls; explain the part that risk assessment plays in the workplace and be able to carry out simple risk assessments
• Identify the key benefits of management systems and explain how to use them to aid planning, operation, monitoring and improvement of workplace procedures
• Describe the procedure for reporting incidents and the value of investigations
• Explain the importance of communication and the different methods to use to deliver tool box talks, indications and briefings

All delegates will receive a workbook as part of the course to assist their knowledge and understanding of the course criteria which can also be taken away for future referencing.

Assessment: There is an end-of-course theory assessment made up of 24 multi-format questions. There is also a practical assessment based around hazard identification and control arrangements.
